Genesis 3:1 records the account where the cunning serpent whispered to the woman in the garden “Did God really say…?” A simple statement as it seems to be. Yet this question masks a heidous scheme against humanity. Why is this so? Progressing from a seeming innocent question, it accelerated into defying the commands of God when the serpent exclaimed, “You will not surely die.” It is a vicious attack against the character of God. It is an insinuation to doubt God by questioning what He says. It is a direct opposition against the commands of God. “Did God really say…?” though an age old statement, remains the same common strategy the enemy uses to deceive people today. The devil constantly seeks to bring confusion to our minds. He knows that if he can tempt us to doubt God, he can demolish our faith in God. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. And if our faith were to be strong, it is dependent largely on our trust in the centrality of God’s Word in our lives. Clearly, the greatest enemy to our faith is doubt. The greatest enemy to our relationship in God is also doubt. The enemy had used this strategy since the beginning of time to fracture the relationship between God and man. He continues this tactics to draw men away from God. If man doubts God’s love and goodness, man becomes immobilized by one of the biggest lies. The only way to break this lie is to have faith. So, what does it mean to have faith in God? Faith is to believe that God loves you. Faith is to accept His truth. Faith is to remember God withholds nothing good from us. Faith is to believe that His commands are not meant to constrict us but boundaries of His great love. How is your faith level in God today? Blessings in Jesus, Rev.
