How do we face the new year of 2011, with its presenting opportunities and perhaps challenges? This question can be best answered through the wise sayings of Jesus found in the gospel of Matthew 6: 25 – 34. I have summarized them in the following pointers:
- Faith empowers us to look past our fears and the uncertainties of the future.
- We can have faith because we have a loving Heavenly Father who cares for us.
- Worries rob our joy and drain our energies. God desires us to face 2011 avoiding the pitfalls of worries.
- Seeking first God’s kingdom means to trust God’s loving heart towards us. We are more important than His creation of birds and grasses of the field. If He cares for these, how much more will He care for us!
- God therefore invites us into a lifestyle of faith, trusting His grace and daily provisions for our needs.
- When we know we are God’s heartbeat, our faith will be strengthened… to know that He will be with us in our “today and tomorrows”.
